Are you looking for an unusual gift? Imagine the excitement of opening a box which contains everything that you need to knit a cute Blue Footed Booby!

Each beautifully presented knitting kit is carefully handmade and packed by me, and will contain all the yarn and notions that you need to knit Bryan the Blue Footed Booby  – No need to order all the different yarns and bits and pieces – you can sit back, relax, and start knitting straight away. It's all there for you!

If you'd like to add needles to your kit, a pair of high quality 25cm 4mm Pony aluminium knitting needles are £2.50, and a pack of 2 Pony darning needles are £1.50.

Did you know that Blue Footed Boobies are very proud of their lovely blue feet, and show them off in a delightful courtship dance? Bryan the Blue Footed Booby is no exception. I named him after Bryan Ferry, who is also known for his smooth moves.

Your bird knitting kit is presented in a large, stylish gift box, and bundled up in plastic-free, recyclable packaging. This booby knit kit is the perfect, original gift for a knitter, birder, or booby fan - they'll love knitting Bryan, and the kit includes a cute booby badge for them to brighten up a coat or a bag, too!

Is Bryan suitable for beginners?

Very much so. He is simply knitted flat on a pair of 4mm knitting needles, making him an excellent project for a beginner who knows the basics of knitting: no need to knit in the round.

Basic skills that you need to know:

Stocking stitch, increasing by knitting into the front and back of a stitch (inc 1) and decreasing by knitting 2 stitches together (k2tog). There’s colour-changing on some rows, so you will need to use Intarsia technique to change yarns mid-row. Head on over to my how to knit tutorials if you need any advice!

What's included in your knit kit?

A full colour 5-page printed knitting pattern

  • 5 different colours of high quality, soft DK acrylic yarn
  • Polyester toy stuffing
  • Black beads
  • Black cotton thread
  • Pipe cleaner
  • Yellow felt
  • A booby button badge

All kit and parcel packaging is plastic-free, and recyclable.

The gift box measures 28cm x 19cm x 8cm.

Bryan the Booby is 22cm tall.

Thorough But Easily Read Historical Account
Format: Paperback
I bought this book thinking it would be an account of civilian life in the U.S. during WWII. But I was surprised to see that it focused almost exclusively on the military campaigns and the decisions behind them. There was sporadic mention of life on the homefront, but mostly the book is a book about the war. Which is not a criticism. Kennedy deftly and thoroughly takes us through the war, outlines for us the challenges and opportunities and how the leaders of the affected nations developed their strategies. In addtion to the fine details of history, Kennedy writes in such a fashion that this book will probably appeal to the scholar and the layman with equal strength. As someone long in the tooth, I knew most of the history of WWII, but if you are younger and want a comprehensive, well-written history an epic period in world history, you could do a lot worse than read this compelling book.

A wonderful telling of history.

Scholarly and Readable, Too
Format: Paperback
I read the first volume in this series (about the Great Depression), and now I'm in the midst of this one. Kennedy's very-lucid prose keeps the reader moving along, and of course, the sweep of the story he's telling is nearly-irresistible. But in lamer hands, the prose might well have bogged down in turgidity--not so in this case!
