The ever-surprising and adventurous Matias Aguayo takes another step into unknown territories with this new solo album. The most immediately striking aspect of Support Alien Invasion is the dual nature of the music: the tracks overflow with dance action via hypermodern grooves, while exuding an impression of quasi-abstract sonic architecture. The danceable dimension is stunningly original, as Matias has been striving to create heavy, sound system-friendly beats which incorporate non-Eurocentric, non-4/4 rhythm programming. The result often sounds like some kind of irresistible, futuristic Maloya or carnival music, which induces new ways of dancing. At the same time, when approached in a more intimate setting (headphones, living room, inner sanctum), the album turns out to provide a unique listening experience: one can easily get lost in it's buzzing soundscapes, huge spaces, clinking tones, and other sonic inventions which bring Support Alien Invasion strangely close to some elegant, conceptual electroacoustic piece of work. Forward-thinking, eclectic music lovers will be happy to learn that Crammed Discs and Cómeme (Matias and Avril Ceballos' internationalist electronic music imprint) have joined forces to release this album. Born in Chile and raised in Germany, Matias Aguayo has been creating a varied body of genre-defying work since the early 00s, including several albums with Kompakt. A much in-demand DJ, he has become a reference for free-spirited dance music lovers from other corners of the world. The man who "helped popularize and expand minimal [techno]" (Pitchfork), he's gradually been using his voice as a key element, in his DJ sets and on certain albums.

The Last Cutting Board You’ll Ever Need – Bamboo Perfection

I’ve gone through plastic, cheap wood, and even a couple of “premium” boards that warped or cracked within months.

Beautiful, high-quality, easy to clean, pleasant to use, no glue on food-facing surfaces

I love these cutting boards! I've had them about 3 weeks, and use them multiple times per day. They are flat, rigid, lightweight, easy to handle, easy to clean, dry fast, and the range of sizes is great. Much better than the plastic cutting boards they replaced!
The top and bottom of each cutting board is a single piece of bamboo. On the larger boards, one or more darker bands across the board show the bamboo's natural joints, called nodes. The boards are gorgeous to look at, a pleasure to work on, and nice to touch. (I LOVE the rounded edges.)
Each board is a sandwich: top, core, bottom, with all joints on the edges of the board so no glued joint touches your food. The working surfaces smell only of bamboo. (If I sniff the edges where the glued joints are, I can faintly smell wood glue.)
The boards are finished with odorless food-grade mineral oil. After 2 weeks of daily use and detergent scrubs, I started to see a slight dulling of the finish. I refreshed them using the same butcher block oil (odorless food-grade mineral oil) I use on wooden cutting boards. I made sure the bamboo was thoroughly dry, wiped on a small amount of oil, and let them dry overnight in my vertical cutting board rack. This returned the finish to like-new condition.
