Authentic Kuba Cloth Bag

Rooted in heritage and crafted with intention, Nela's Kuba bags are made from authentic Kuba fabric originating from the historic Kuba Kingdom in Central Africa. Woven from natural fibres derived from raffia and palm leaves, each bag is created through a meticulous process where the leaves are stripped, softened, dried, and handwoven. The result is a richly textured, one-of-a-kind piece that honours traditional African craftsmanship and timeless design.

More than just an accessory, each Kuba bag carries the story of the Kuba people of the Democratic Republic of Congo. For generations, Kuba artisans have used weaving as a form of cultural expression - a way to preserve identity, share stories, and celebrate community. Every pattern and texture reflects a deep connection to nature, history, and artistry.

Known for its bold geometric motifs and intricate detailing, Kuba fabric is instantly recognisable. These patterns are not only visually striking but deeply symbolic — representing themes such as unity, balance, and the interconnectedness of life. Signature designs featuring concentric squares and diamond shapes echo the rhythms of existence and the cycles of life.

The fabric’s distinctive texture comes from a traditional “cut-pile” weaving technique, where threads are carefully cut and knotted to create a raised, tactile surface. This gives each bag depth, character, and a unique sensory appeal - no two pieces are ever exactly alike.

Why you’ll love it:

  • Made from authentic, handwoven Kuba cloth
  • Crafted using natural raffia and palm fibres
  • Each piece is unique with its own pattern and texture
  • A meaningful blend of culture, history, and modern style

Carry a piece of African heritage with you - a bag that tells a story with every detail.

Dimensions:

  • Height: 18,5cm
  • Width: 24,5cm
  • Depth: 11cm
  • Handle drop: 14,5cm

Please note: Each Kuba bag is individually handmade, making every piece truly one of a kind. While the images represent the overall style, pattern, and colour palette, the exact design and pattern placement will vary from bag to bag.

The images are intended to illustrate the general colour scheme - your bag will follow a similar color tone, but the specific pattern will be unique to your piece.

Warranty:
As each piece is handmade, this product is not covered by a warranty. We recommend handling with care to preserve its quality and longevity.

A must read for Adult Survivors of childhood Emotional abuse
Format: Paperback
A definite must read especially if you have difficult family relationships. My childhood was very unhappy and confusing as I had a mother who is a borderline. My father, who seemed to be the anchor of reason in our family, recently passed causing some very difficult and seemingly unreasonable discussions. My mother was all over the place emotionally, causing me as an adult many sleepless nights from her verbal vomits. This book really gave me renewed courage and strength to find and hold my ground and feel right about setting boundaries for myself. As a survivor of a borderline, it is very difficult to have good healthy relationships with your own children because even years after you’ve left home and have your own family, those words “I hate you, I wish you’d never been born” can still come to haunt you and cause you to doubt yourself. I gave a copy of this book to my sisters. One read it, and both she and her husband devoured it. It really has helped us to separate ourselves from some of the family crazy, and be more Christ centered and ministry focused. Our mother was quite good at throwing “bible” at us and using it rather inappropriately to fit her agendas, always causing us to doubt our effectiveness in ministering your other individuals.

Most Helpful Book. Taught me a lot about myself too.
Format: Paperback
I purchased this book in an effort to make sense of a toxic family member. This book was so helpful for that but also helpful in teaching me how to respond and not become toxic myself.

Informative and full of insight. It helped me to see there is a difference between a difficult person and a toxic one. Also the danger of labeling, name calling and toxicity.
