After three weeks of ceiling demolition and debris clean up by its eight founding members, the space was transformed from a vacant body shop into a functioning art exhibition space. The name ÔAuto BodyÕ was born from a desire to recognize and embrace the buildingÕs original intent: it functioned as a body shop for over eighty years by a number of different local mechanics. With a multi-disciplinary team of eight members - some from design backgrounds, others from fine art backgrounds - Auto Body organized four shows in five weeks. Each show exhibited hand made works with a simple theme that was relevant to Bellport.
